Welcome to “Baby Big Hair Blast” where we highlight BIG HAIR artisans and their muses:) Up next to the BBH stage is Mommy Sophia and her gem, Princess Nevaeh. Now believe you me, this baby’s hair is a beautiful crown of GLOREH! Now we have been fans of Ms. Nevaeh and her BIG HAIR for some time now. So naturally we were excited to chat down with Mommy Sophia and get the bits on lovely Princess Nevaeh and that gorgeous hair. I’m dying to share these amazing pics so let’s get to it, shall we??
BBH: What is your hair washing routine?
My routine for her hair is mainly conditioning and deep conditioning at least once a week, well I try to do it once a week. I shampoo her hair once a month if that. After washing it sometimes I blow dry it and two strand twist it or twist it while its wet, more then likely i do it wet [BBH: Yes!! we AHWLWAYS twist on wet hair!!]. I don’t like to put too much heat to her hair by blowing it out.
BBH: What do you find are the challenges for styling Princess Nevaeh’s hair and how do you over come them?
The challenges with her hair is getting it to stay laid down! Her hair is soooooo curly her styles, such as pony tails, last for a few hours then i have to brush it back up into the ponytail to keep it nice throughout the day [BBH: Well that’s what I know! Sometimes BIG HAIR just won’t do right!!]. When its all out I have a challenge at times keeping it from looking dry. To over come that I just add a little more of Miss Jessie’s Quick Curl to the ends. [BBH: mmHHHmm…]
BBH: How do you entertain Princess Nevaeh when styling her hair?
She is great when getting her hair done ever since she was little! [BBH: o_O?] When it’s time to get her hair done in just a ponytail or few we just stand at the bathroom sink and she lets me do it. It’s quick and easy :-). When i wanna do corn rolls i just lay her across my lap on a pillow with her favorite cartoon on the tv and she just lays there with no problem until i’m done. 🙂 Lucky me!! lol [BBH: OK. M’am. You and your purdy baby come with me please. You are a now officially in the BBH protection program as BBH parents around the world want to steal that baby and do her hair!!]
BBH: What are your fav products these days?
My favorite products are Mixed Chicks Leave-in and Deep Conditioner, and Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding, Baby Butter Creme, Curly Meringue…well lets just say i love allllllllll Miss Jessie’s cremes :-). They all bring out my baby curls and makes her hair shine and smell sooooo good! [BBH: Ooo…products, Products, PRODUCTS!!! (battles internally) GET THEE BEHIND ME!! ]
BBH: How does Nevaeh feel about her hair??
She loves her hair!!! She asked to wear it out often [BBH: Yey!] or in two puffs which is one of her faves! I know it will be her choice when she gets older to decide what she wants to do with her hair but i doubt she will want it to be straightened. If she ever does I may she do a blow out to straighten it, not any chemicals. But it will be her choice. [BBH: Good job Mommy!]
BBH: Tips for wearing BIG HAIR or fav “quick” styles.
Our favorite quick style is two puffs. Its so easy to do and she is just the cutest when she wears it :-). Tips for BIG HAIR is to prepare it the night before by doing twist, nubian knots, or banding. Do it the night before and it will be perfect the following morning. Also, be sure to keep the BIG HAIR moisturized to make it shine 🙂 [BBH: Shi-iii–iii-ne, OH Shi-ii-ine on Me-ee-ee… I wond’ah, if yo’BIG HAIR, will Shi-iii-iiine, Oo-on..(*clap*) Meeeeee!! RrrrhondaShondaTasha!]
BBH: Last but not least, anything you would like to share about haircare in general or experiences?
Well I would tell everyone to not do so much to their child’s hair. All the rubber bands and super tiny corn rolls aren’t good, it breaks the hair. Nice size corn rolls will do. Also keep the hair moisturized and not to shampoo so much a co-wash is best 🙂 Good Luck Moms!!!!
Well said Mommy Sophia! Many thanks to you and purdy Princess Nevaeh for participating!! Can you believe this child being so still at hair time? Who does that!?! And what about these AMAZING pics (by www.thememorystudios.com and www.labellaphotos.com)?!?! Golly, the camera loves her. Keep up the good work Mommy and looking forward to seeing more features of this cutie beauty. I’m off to research some of them there mentioned products ^^^ (don’t judge me!). Until next time…
